QUEEN MATHILDE OF BELGIUM

A surprisingly unique and unexpected commission came to me some time ago when an old Belgian friend of mine told me with great excitement that the King and Queen of Belgium were heading to Vietnam to complete a nationwide tour. Through a Royal Political acquaintance, the opportunity for my friend to meet the Royal couple in person arose. And so, I was asked to paint a portrait of Queen Mathilde as a gift.

Such projects do not arrive so often in ones life, so I agreed to paint the portrait.

A challenge of great pressure indeed.

Although I have not received any Royal feedback thus far, I enjoy the thought that my painting may indeed be hanging in some Royal quarters, somewhere in the world. Who knows?
