QUAN YIN BODHISATTVA

“Do not drag the negative past or future into the present. Understand the possibilities of the present. The present is our way, our vehicle for changing reality. Your escape hatch is right here” …

Guanyin, also known as Avalokiteśvara, is the Bodhisattva of compassion in East Asian Buddhism, particularly in China and Vietnam. Bodhisattvas are enlightened beings who choose to delay their own entry into Nirvana to help all sentient beings achieve enlightenment.

Guanyin is revered for her compassion and ability to hear and respond to the cries of those who suffer.

I painted this Guanyin Bodhisattva in Acrylic on Wood as a birthday gift for my Dear Mother-in-Law. Inspired by Traditional depictions, with my own added subtleties, this piece radiates a peaceful aura and is really quite calming to look at.
