THE THREE BLUES
Kuredu, Orda & Azzura
( AVAILABLE)
During my time as an Art Teacher, I hosted two workshops for my younger students, teaching them the exciting process of "Pour Art", also know as "Pour Painting" or "Flow / Fluid Art". This medium was becoming commercially very popular at the time and still is. In preparation, I spent countless hours researching the various techniques and practicing in my studio. Eventually, after countless unsuccessful attempts, a lot of mess and frustration, I achieved some Eureka moments and began creating some very beautiful, visually fascinating and vibrant paintings. It is safe to say, I got hooked.
One particular exploration of colour, using a spectrum of blues and gold spiked my delight. I had been watching a documentary about underwater caves in various locations around the world and this piece struck a clear resemblance to the deep blue tunnels and caverns of the ancient depths. I promptly replicated the colours and technique a further two times, creating a triptych set, that I framed in dark, hand-made hardwood frames. Spoiled for choice of the many exotic cave names, I chose Kuredu, Orda and Azzura as these particular caves bore the closest visual similarities to my creations.
KUREDU ~ Kuredu Caves, located on the outreef at the backside of Kuredu Island in the Maldives are known as "Turtle Airport", due to the large population of Green Sea Turtles. 30x30cm, Acrylic on Canvas, Recycled Hardwood Frame.
ORDA ~ Orda Cave is the longest underwater labyrinth of corridors and chambers known in Russia. Known as the miracle of the Ural, the cave formations are an unparalleled and unique underwater landscape. 30x30cm, Acrylic on Canvas, Recycled Hardwood Frame.
AZZURA ~ Grotto Azzura, also know as The Blue Grotto, is a sea cave on the Italian Island Capri. Known since Ancient Roman times, it is thought to have been one of the favorite Nymphaea, or Temples of the Emperor Tiberious. Many Roman statues were discovered there and now tourists from all over the word travel to visit it. 30x30cm, Acrylic on Canvas, Recycled Hardwood Frame.
